This is forum which will show you what happens when POWER is bestowed upon unworthy individuals and how these unworthy individuals from the Department of Child Safety in Queensland government, ABUSES their power for personal amusement. Instead of PROTECTING and SERVING the people, they have become the predators. Distressed Queensland families today need protection from these predators. Department of Child Safety Pine Rivers. Hi all

Did anyone happen to read the above named article in the Courier Mail on 29 Jan 2010? When I clicked on the link from the Parliament of Australia (ParlInfo Search) it comes up with "Copyright restrictions prevent us from showing you the contents of this document". I'd be interested in what the article contained. Below is the details of the article but no article.

Hi Paula

Hmmmm it could be, I thought it might be a bit different to that according to the description the Parliament of Australia gave and they said it was titled 'Crisis of 'Stolen' children looming.

Oh well I'll keep trolling the net.

Take care
Toni

Hi, I have found the aricle you are refering to. It's posted underneath.

Title: Crisis of 'stolen' children looming Courier Mail, The (Brisbane), Jan 29, 2010

`We could have 100 per cent of indigenous children in care the rate it's going' - Jill Lang, Queensland Council of Social Service
QUEENSLAND'S child protection system is fostering a bigger Stolen Generation than ever before, with indigenous children now nearly eight times more likely to be removed from their families than their non-indigenous counterparts.
The worsening situation yesterday prompted a broad coalition of child protection, health and other community-based organisations to call on the State Government to urgently fund intensive family support programs linked to existing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health services.
Queensland Council of Social Service president Jill Lang - a member of the Combined Voices coalition - said the over-representation of indigenous children in care was at crisis point.
``We could have 100 per cent of indigenous children in care the rate it's going,'' she said.
Late yesterday the Government responded by announcing it would be ``refocusing'' its $16 million investment in indigenous child-protection services.
Child Safety Minister Phil Reeves said the Government had considered the work of an indigenous taskforce, featuring members of the coalition, set up in October last year.
He said $7.9 million would be invested in family support services ``with a preference for indigenous-controlled organisations'', the other $8.2 million would continue to be provided for (indigenous) recognised entities' statutory functions to ensure they can continue to provide cultural advice when indigenous children are removed from their home.
Child protection data in Australian Institute of Health and Welfare reports shows a doubling in the rate of indigenous children living in out-of-home care in the past five years.
In 2008-09, 36 per 1000 indigenous children were removed, compared with a rate of 15.8 in 2003-04.
Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak chief Dianne Harvey described the removal rates as ``staggering''.
``It's now certainly exceeded the Stolen Generation.''
Ms Harvey said the coalition had proposed the establishment of early intervention and prevention programs to be trialled in Logan and Cairns. She welcomed Mr Reeves' announcement but said the investment still fell far short of the $23 million recommended by the Crime and Misconduct Commission following its 2003 inquiry into child safety.
